Nancy Pitel has been a life long working artist beginning with her first commission for a lawyer at the age of twelve. Her many works include portraits, public art, wall murals, book and publicity illustration done in multi-media, colored pencil or acrylic as well as fine art photography. Her work in the arts include a tenure at the historic Scarab Club in Midtown Detroit as secretary of the board and then executive director. Among the charitable works she is involved in is “Angel Baby Portraits”, beautiful portraits of stillborn children painted to help families deal with infant loss.

“I believe art is for everyone; one does not need to understand the nuances to enjoy it. If the art is good, it will bring about remembered feelings and thoughts. If the art is great, it will create new feelings and encourage new thinking that the viewer has never experienced before”.
