SLAW’s style has become synonymous with retro Detroit. His colorful paintings feature the martini class alcohol laden lifestyles of the not so rich and infamous. The dirty joke undertones bleed a sense of humor that lives in everyone’s mind.
SLAW’s painting style comes from the Hanna Barbera era of what cartoons were before computers came into play. You can also hear the laugh track going off when you read his titles such as So Sushi is Out of the Question? (the painting is of a guy hitting on a mermaid waitress.)
SLAW’s influences are not only from cartoons but from the modern look of the 50’s and 60’s of home furnishings, clothing , lifestyle and architecture.
