Corey Scillian’s medium is ceramics.  Her work exists in both the realms of Realism and Surrealism at once.  Corey stated that she first found her voice in “traditional ceramic forms and functional wares.”  Corey adds that  “As my skills improved I found I was hungry to use those skills in new ways.”  She also found, after suffering a serious back injury, that the main way she was working with clay, (throwing on a wheel) , was no longer possible.   She had to rethink “ what, why and how I would work. It opened the doors to the story telling I do today.”  Corey has taken several hundred of hours of instruction from such notables as Jeremy Brooks, Darien Johnson and Emily Duke.
